With the season being close to finishing, we have witnessed many surprising performances from teams and many disappointing ones. With many new groups emerging from the AFC and NFC, we will see a much different playoff picture. Here are the top 5 favorites to win Super Bowl 56.

Los Angeles Rams

Even though the Rams haven't been playing as well as they started the season recently, they are still one of the biggest favorites to win the Super Bowl. The Rams have signed many stars this offseason and midseason, including Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. The Rams are currently a top 4 team in the NFC, and with the Cardinals collapsing late, this gives the Rams an even bigger chance to get the second seed. The Rams have shown plenty of times this season that they can hang in and even win with some of the star teams, including a win over the heavily favored Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With a stellar defense including Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey, topped off with an improved offense from last year, the Los Angeles Rams have a big chance to win the Lombardi Trophy this season. Matthew Stafford has shown everybody that he can still play well even when hurt. Midseason pickup Odell Beckham has also been vital to this team with big performances and touchdown catches against the Packers, Cardinals, and Vikings. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp has also enjoyed his best season as a pro. It is only a matter of time before the Rams start playing challenging and winning games against other contenders in the playoffs.

Kansas City Chiefs

After a sluggish 3–4 start, the Kansas City Chiefs rebounded. The Chief's defense is playing as good as ever, while Mahomes and the offense continue to score and win games. After last year's super bowl, the Chiefs went out and spent a lot of their cap improving their offensive line by picking up pieces like Joe Thuney and Orlando Brown. The improved offensive line has paid off as Mahomes has had much more time to throw the ball this season. The Chiefs are now winners of eight straight games and are the heavy favorites to claim the top seed and get out of the AFC. After an awful start on the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo have figured it out and have done a great job of pressuring the quarterbacks. With experience playing in the big game and a talent-loaded offense that features Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs are favorites to win the super bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs are a team nobody wants to play in the NFL Postseason.

Green Bay Packers

After consecutive 13 win seasons under Matt LaFleur, while reaching and losing the NFC championship game both years, the Packers have pieced together another excellent year. However, this Packers team seems different from the other ones. The Packers heavily relied on Aaron Rodgers and their running game in the previous two years. But his year, the defense has stepped up much more. Aaron Rodgers is enjoying another MVP-like season, and the Packers are currently first in the NFC. Davante Adams has enjoyed another excellent campaign, while breakout running back AJ Dillion has provided the Packers with another perfect running back option. The Packers are also missing all-pro tackle David Bakhtiari, who they will most likely get back when the playoffs start. Suppose Aaron Rodgers continues to play at his MVP level form in the playoffs, and the defense continues to feast off turnovers. In that case, the Green Bay Packers have a legit shot at winning their fifth Lombardi Trophy on Super Sunday.

Dallas Cowboys

Of all the teams on the list, the Dallas Cowboys probably have the slightest chance to win the super bowl, but they still have a better option than any other team. Dak Prescott has enjoyed an incredible after coming back from the devastating ankle injury that kept him out for most of the season. The defense has endured a resurgence year under first-year defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Some highlights from this team are Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs, who currently leads the league in interceptions. Micah Parsons is a rookie and has a strong case not just for rookie of the year but also for Defensive Player of the Year. With a solid running attack and star receivers, this Dallas offense can be virtually unstoppable on any given day. After starting 5–1, which included wins over the Chargers and Patriots, the Cowboys were inconsistent in the middle of the season, losing to teams like the Broncos, Chiefs, and Raiders. However, the Cowboys are now finding their groove to end the season. Suppose Dak Prescott and the running back Ezekiel Elliot continue to torch defenses, and the Cowboy's defense continues to get turnovers. In that case, the Cowboys have a legit shot at winning the super bowl.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The defending champions have followed their super bowl season with another fantastic season. Tom Brady has enjoyed yet another excellent season while receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have enjoyed career years. Running back, Leonard Fournette is also enjoying a resurgence year. This season, the Buccaneers have dealt with many injuries, but they are still one of the top teams in the NFC. This year, the Bucs have beat many other playoff teams, including the Bills and the Colts. The only glaring weaknesses with this team are maybe their secondary, but they have dealt with many injuries in that department. The Bucs made some moves midseason, including signing past his prime Richard Sherman. If the Bucs pass rush continues to put quarterbacks under pressure, and if Tom Brady can put together another playoff run, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be a top two favorite to win the super bowl.
